The Evolution of the Heel-less platform shoe

These have been popular for the first ladies of avant-garde high fashion (e.g. Lady Gaga and Daphne Guinness) for a while now

The designer behind Gaga's shoes?
Noritaka Tatehana, who offers the towering heals at an equally towering price of approximately $2,000.

The shoes are basically a wearable piece of art, so you wouldn't expect to see them worn on the street.  But a few knock offs did surface on nasty gal, at about $100:

Yet they still look to bizarre to be incorporated into mainstream fashion.  That's where Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale comes into the picture

The starlet was seen wearing a much more modest version of Tatehana's boot, designed by Giusepe Zanotti, at the teen choice awards.
Personally, I love the Zanotti version of the shoe.  It looks chic and wearable in an everyday situation.  But maybe I wasn't the only one thinking that...
Jeffrey Campbell's new collection features a shoe named "nightwalk", a mary jane revision of the heels.

Nightwalks are super cute, and I love the mary-jane appeal of them.  Many bloggers are even calling the "next Lita".  If I was a few inches shorter, I would definitely put this on my shopping list.  As for right now, I'll wait for the trend to become more "mainstream".
